Loss and Grief Group

Any significant loss or change in our lives will lead to some type of grief experience. Such changes or losses may relate to:

  • death
  • health
  • relationships
  • miscarriage
  • retirement
  • moving house
  • changing jobs
  • employment or income
  • children leaving home
  • separation and divorce

The grief we experience is seen in the way we feel, the way we think, the way we act in relation to the particular loss. Grief is our response to loss. It is normal, inevitable and unique. No one experiences grief just as you do.

Our Loss and Grief Group aims:

  • to offer initial companionship to people who are grieving and those living with loss
  • to offer support, and a safe place where people can share their grief experiences
  • to offer opportunity of connection with others who are grieving
  • to offer further understanding and appreciation of their experiences of loss and grief
  • to help identify needs that arise, and plan for support in these areas

We offer complete confidentiality. What is said in the group remains in the group and is not mentioned to others. We have an attitude of respect and are not judgemental.

While participants are encouraged to share their experiences, and to discuss or reflect on particular aspects, there is no pressure on anyone to speak if they choose not to. People can be involved just through listening.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 2.00 PM. These meetings are held in the Parish House and are finish by 3.45 PM.
